Day Trips to Hendaye: Where Good Times Meet Perfect Lines

Some days at Pure Surf Camp Seignosse don’t end where they begin.

When the conditions line up just right, we pack the boards, load the van, and head south — all the way down to Hendaye, where France kisses the Spanish border and the ocean takes on a whole different personality.

A day trip to Hendaye is never just about the waves (though they’re usually pretty incredible). It’s about getting out on the open road, chasing something fresh, and sharing the anticipation that builds as the coastline changes and the famous Twins — Les Jumeaux — rise out of the sea like ancient guardians. They’re as picturesque as they are iconic, standing proudly in the background of every surf shot and every memory we make down there.

The surf in Hendaye has its own charm: long, gentle lines perfect for flow, style, and miles of smile-per-waddle fun. When the swell is friendly and the sandbanks behave, everyone gets their chance to glide, trim, and dance along the wave. Someone in the group is always still out there at the end, refusing to come in — chasing “just one more” and trying to shoot the curl under the watchful eyes of the Jumeaux.

After the session, the energy shifts into something beautifully simple.

Salty hair, sandy feet, wetsuits half-zipped… and then came our ritual: the picnic sandwiches on the boardwalk. Nothing fancy — just good food, shared stories, loud laughs, and that unbeatable feeling of having earned it. You sit on the warm planks overlooking the beach, watching the last surfers fade into silhouettes as the tide moves and the sun flirts with the horizon.

Hendaye is soft, colourful, and cinematic — a place where time stretches out and the world feels lighter. These day trips remind us why we surf, why we explore, and why we build these moments into the rhythm of camp life. It’s not only about the waves you catch, but the people you share them with and the landscapes that stay with you long after the boards are back in the van.

If you’re with us when the conditions allow, don’t miss the chance to join.

Pack your stoke, bring your appetite, and get ready for one of the most effortless, joyful days of your surf holiday.
